Freeport-McMoRan Secures Critical Minerals MoU, Extends Indonesian Mining Permit Past 2041
Freeport-McMoRan signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment to cooperate on critical minerals development as part of $38.4bn in US-Indonesia trade deals. The company also secured an initial agreement to extend its Indonesian mining permit beyond 2041.
1. US-Indonesia $38.4bn Trade Agreements
Companies from Indonesia and the US finalized 11 contracts totaling $38.4bn across mining, energy, agribusiness, textiles, furniture and technology sectors. The agreements include agricultural purchases valued at over $2bn and two semiconductor joint ventures worth nearly $5bn.
2. Freeport-McMoRan’s Critical Minerals MoU and Permit Extension
Freeport-McMoRan signed an MoU with Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment to collaborate on critical minerals extraction and processing. In addition, the company confirmed an initial agreement to extend its Indonesian mining permit beyond 2041, securing long-term operating rights.
