FTAI Aviation buys 27 Boeing 737-700 jets from WestJet
FTAI•FTAI Aviation acquired 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet: 17 leased to WestJet through a sale-leaseback and 10 off-lease aircraft for its Aerospace Products business.
1. Aircraft transaction
FTAI Aviation acquired 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet in one of its largest aircraft transactions. Its 2026 SPV bought 17 aircraft on lease to WestJet through a sale-leaseback, while FTAI acquired 10 off-lease aircraft for its Aerospace Products business, including their CFM56-7B engines and modules.
2. SPV strategy
The 2026 SPV targets mid-life 737NG and A320ceo aircraft. FTAI’s earlier 2025 SPV raised $2 billion in equity commitments and committed about $6 billion across more than 300 aircraft.
