FTI Consulting named Jason Smolanoff Senior Managing Director of its Cybersecurity practice in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting segment to expand cyber risk management offerings. He brings over 25 years of leadership at Kroll and the FBI, targeting growth in incident response and strategic risk advisory.

1. Diversified Consulting Model Drives Outperformance

FTI Consulting’s broad service portfolio—spanning forensic and litigation consulting, economic and financial consulting, strategic communications and technology—has supported a 12% year-to-date gain for its shares, outpacing the 8% average for professional services peers. As of September 30, 2025, the firm held $450 million in cash and cash equivalents against $620 million in total debt, underpinning a 1.5x liquidity coverage ratio. FTI’s board authorized an additional $200 million share-repurchase program in Q4 2025, supplementing $150 million executed in the prior six months, while management projects low-single-digit earnings per share growth for fiscal 2026, reflecting continued demand for advisory work across restructuring and cybersecurity engagements.

2. Veteran Cybersecurity Leader Joins Senior Ranks

On January 13, 2026, FTI Consulting appointed Jason Smolanoff as Senior Managing Director in its Cybersecurity practice within the Forensic and Litigation Consulting segment. Mr. Smolanoff brings over 25 years of experience, having previously led Kroll’s Cyber Risk practice and founded CISO Advisory & Investigations. His tenure at the FBI included oversight of the Cyber National Security Squad and the US Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Task Force. In his new role, Smolanoff will expand incident response, digital forensics, risk advisory and managed security services for clients, bolstering FTI’s capacity to address complex cyber threats against a backdrop of rising global demand for technical investigations.
