Galaxy Digital says AI agent growth drives need for proof of personhood
GLXY•Galaxy Digital said growing use of AI agents threatens online business models and increases the need to verify distinct users without revealing identities. Automated traffic exceeded 53% of web traffic in 2025, up from 51% a year earlier, figures cited in the report showed.
1. Pressure on online models
Galaxy Digital warned that AI agents can consume publisher content without generating referral traffic or ad impressions, adding pressure to advertising-dependent businesses. It said existing agent signatures and payment mandates do not establish whether distinct people stand behind accounts, leaving platforms exposed to manipulation.
2. Privacy-preserving credentials
The report favors portable, privacy-preserving personhood credentials to enforce per-person limits without widespread identity checks.
