1. Garmin Unveils Approach G82 for Comprehensive Golf Performance

Garmin today introduced the Approach G82, its most advanced golf handheld to date, featuring a 5-inch high-resolution color touchscreen—the largest display in the company’s golf lineup. The device comes preloaded with over 43,000 courses worldwide and, with an active Garmin Golf membership, offers aerial imagery and green contour data for photographic hole views. The G82 integrates a built-in radar launch monitor delivering key metrics such as ball speed, club speed, smash factor and swing tempo, plus the industry’s first putting analytics on a handheld—tracking stroke length, tempo and ball speed. Practice modes include bag mapping to record average club distances, target practice with custom carry or total distance zones, tempo and club speed drills. On the course, users benefit from virtual caddie club recommendations that factor in recorded swing data, wind, elevation and hazard locations, enhanced PlaysLike yardages adjusted for environmental conditions, automatic shot detection with CT10 sensors, and Range Relay when paired with a compatible Garmin laser rangefinder. The unit is water-rated IPX7 and offers up to 25 hours of battery life in GPS mode and eight hours in radar mode, all for a suggested retail price of $599.99.

2. Garmin Launches Approach J1 GPS Watch for Junior Golfers

Also announced was the Approach J1, the first GPS golf watch designed specifically for junior players. This lightweight device features a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, ComfortFit fabric strap sized for smaller wrists, and water resistance to handle light rain and wind. It offers tee-off guidance with on-screen recommendations based on ability and forward tee locations across the same 43,000+ preloaded courses. The J1 introduces “personal par,” dynamically adjusting target scores as the player improves and celebrating par or better achievements. A pace-of-play timer visually alerts juniors when they exceed recommended hole times, while on-course club selection prompts and distance-to-green calculations help build decision-making skills. With up to 15 hours of battery life in GPS mode, the watch supports multiple rounds per charge. Priced at $299.99, the Approach J1 aims to accelerate learning and foster independence for young golfers through real-time feedback and course management tools.
