Garmin Debuts Redesigned Pilot Flights Page, Expands SmartCharts to Canada and Mexico
GRMN•Garmin rolled out a redesigned Flights page for its Pilot mobile app, integrating route planning, weight & balance, and fuel planning into one UI, available now for Apple devices. It also plans to expand its SmartCharts dynamic charting solution to Canada and Mexico in August, boosting its premium subscription appeal.
1. Redesigned Flights Page
Garmin replaced its previous Trip Planning page with the new Flights page, centralizing route planning, weight and balance, fuel planning and briefing into a single Apple mobile app interface featuring quickset cards for streamlined data entry. The update aligns web and mobile experiences, enabling pilots to manage their entire flight in one cohesive hub.
2. SmartCharts Expansion
In August, Garmin will extend SmartCharts to Premium users in Canada and Mexico, adding Continuous Descent Final Approach (CDFA) paths on vertical profiles and cold weather adjustments for airports. This dynamic charting solution, now beyond the United States and Bahamas, aims to enhance situational awareness and reduce pilot workload for international operations.
3. Oshkosh FISK Arrival Enhancements
The FISK VFR Arrival procedure for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 is now integrated into Garmin navigation databases and SmartCharts, featuring additional waypoint labels, colored runway dots and a direct NOTAM link for quicker briefing. Starting July 9, users can load the arrival as a STAR during the July database update, allowing autopilot coupling for lateral guidance along the arrival route.
