Garmin Launches AXIS Integrated Flight Displays with IFR GPS and Audio Panel
GRMN•Garmin has introduced the AXIS flight display family, offering 11.6-, 8-portrait and 8-landscape-inch touchscreen units that integrate PFD/MFD, optional IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radios and a four-place audio panel. The system’s AML STC covers hundreds of certified piston, experimental and LSA aircraft, simplifying installation and reducing weight.
1. New AXIS Flight Display Family
Garmin’s AXIS series debuts as its first fully integrated cockpit display, combining primary flight display (PFD), multi-function display (MFD) and optional engine indication system into a single unit. Available in 11.6-inch landscape, 8-inch portrait and 8-inch landscape touchscreens, AXIS modernizes panel layouts with crisp graphics and intuitive controls.
2. Configurations and Certification
The 11.6-inch models offer TSO-certified IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radios and a four-place intercom audio panel built into the display, while all sizes support experimental and light-sport aircraft through an expansive AML STC covering hundreds of piston-powered single and twin-engine models. AXIS leverages existing G3X Touch panel cutouts and mounting points for straightforward retrofits.
3. Integration Benefits and Safety Features
By uniting navigation, communication and audio functions, AXIS reduces cockpit weight and installation time, with features like 10-watt VHF comm, 8.33 kHz tuning and standby monitoring. Safety tools include Synthetic Vision Technology, 3D SafeTaxi, Smart Glide emergency routing, Runway Occupancy Awareness and optional SurfaceWatch runway monitoring.
