GE Aerospace moved closer to first assembly of its XA102 adaptive cycle engine for the U.S. Air Force’s NGAP program.
Hardware procurement began; subcomponent testing started to support assembly of the first XA102 test asset.
Digital model-based development and program background
XA102 is GE’s first engine built end-to-end using model-based definition, replacing 2D drawings to speed development.
Digital models are being extended into manufacturing, inspection, and assembly to cut cycle time and improve build accuracy.
The program draws on XA100 results in adaptive cycle propulsion, thermal management, fuel efficiency, and advanced design methods.
