GE Vernova Leases Port of Nigg for 2.4 GW Dogger Bank B and C
GE Vernova will lease the Port of Nigg in Scotland for ten years to preassemble Haliade-X 14 MW turbines for the 2.4 GW Dogger Bank B and C offshore wind phases. The facility will handle logistics for nacelles, blades and tower sections, strengthening GE Vernova’s offshore wind operations in the UK.
1. Port of Nigg Lease
GE Vernova has secured a ten-year lease of the Port of Nigg near Inverness, converting the facility for preassembly, storage and transportation of Haliade-X 14 MW turbine components.
2. Support for Dogger Bank B and C
The Port of Nigg will service the Dogger Bank B and C phases, each comprising 1.2 GW of capacity, by preassembling turbines before offshore installation, optimizing component flow and reducing vessel requirements.
3. Strategic and Financial Implications
This arrangement strengthens GE Vernova’s UK offshore wind logistics, reduces transportation costs and enhances project timelines, potentially improving unit margins and solidifying its position in Europe’s largest wind market.
