GE Vernova supports Brazil’s 295-MW Azulão I gas plant with grid-stability blocking filter technology

GE Vernova-backed Azulão I, a 295-MW gas-fired plant in Brazil, entered service to provide firm power for a renewables-heavy grid.

The project uses a 7HA.02 gas turbine with a tailored blocking filter to mitigate sub-synchronous resonance risk on a 1,200-mile corridor.

Grid studies drove operating procedures tied to transmission configurations, aiming to protect turbine-generator equipment during outages or maintenance.

Azulão I is the first phase of a broader Azulão complex expected to reach 950 MW, with full commercial operation targeted for Q1 2027.
