NVDA•Stocks rise as Nvidia lifts tech shares
MSCI's global equities gauge rose on Thursday as Nvidia's bullish outlook boosted tech shares and U.S. Treasury yields edged down before a speech from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh on Friday, although uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz sent Brent futures higher.
U.S. Treasury yields slipped but the dollar was virtually unchanged as traders turned their focus to Warsh's appearance at the central bank's Jackson Hole Symposium on Friday with hopes for clues on interest rate policy.
Meanwhile, on Wall Street the S&P 500 technology sector .SPLRCT was the sole gainer among the benchmark index's 11 major sectors and technology stocks .SX8P also rallied after AI chip leader Nvidia NVDA.O forecast roughly 70% revenue growth in the fiscal year ending January 2028.
Matt Miskin, co-chief investment strategist at Manulife John Hancock Investments, described the report as "the icing on the cake of one of the best earnings seasons in corporate American history."
