Global steel output fell 1.2% year over year in August, says World Steel Association

Global crude steel production fell 1.2% from a year earlier to 144.2 million tonnes in August, World Steel Association data showed. China, the world's top producer and consumer of steel, produced 74.6 million tonnes, down 3.7% year over year.
