Gold Fields JV Drilling Extends Barry Deposit 100 m Beyond Resource Boundary
GFI•Gold Fields’ JV with Bonterra drilled fourteen deep holes totaling 8,346 m at the Barry deposit, submitting 9,465 core samples with 30% assays pending from January to April. All five down-plunge holes intersected Zone H mineralization roughly 750–850 m deep, extending 100 m beyond February’s resource boundary, indicating substantial resource upside.
1. Drill Program Details
The 2026 program tested targets located south-west and east of the Barry deposit with two rigs from January to April, completing 14 diamond drill holes totalling 8,346 m and submitting 9,465 NQ core samples to labs, with about 30% of assay results pending.
2. Extension Discovery and Resource Impact
All five deep holes intersected Zone H mineralization at depths of approximately 750–850 m, extending about 100 m beyond the boundary of the 2026 mineral resource estimate and underscoring the potential to materially increase measured and indicated gold ounces in future updates.
3. JV Terms and Strategic Outlook
Under the joint venture agreement, Gold Fields can acquire a 70% interest in the Barry project by funding C$30 million in work expenditures over three years, including a minimum C$10 million annual spend, reinforcing partner commitment ahead of a planned resource revision.
