Gold miners climb on lower bond yields, Iran deal talks
GDX•Gold miners rise as bullion hits seven-week high
Shares of gold miners rose as bullion climbed to its highest level in almost seven weeks.
- Spot gold XAU= was up 4.09% at $4,242.57/oz, after hitting its highest level since June 18 at $4,258.99, amid lower Treasury yields and hopes for progress in efforts to open the Strait of Hormuz GOL/.
- Newmont NEM.N jumped 7.7%, while Barrick Mining ABX.TO rose 7.3%.
- Royal Gold RGLD.O and AngloGold Ashanti AU.N rose 5.2% and 8.6%, respectively.
- Canadian miners Kinross Gold K.TO were up 8.6%, while Agnico Eagle Mines AEM.TO jumped 9.1%.
