Samsung to Double Smartphones Running Google's Gemini AI to 800 Million Units This Year
Samsung Electronics plans to double the number of its devices equipped with Google’s Gemini AI to 800 million units this year, co-CEO Han Jong-hee said. This expansion will accelerate distribution of Google’s AI model across Samsung’s Galaxy lineup, boosting Alphabet’s reach and strengthening its competitive edge in the smartphone market.
1. Samsung to Double Devices Powered by Google’s Gemini
Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-hee announced that Samsung will increase the number of its mobile devices featuring Google’s Gemini AI platform from 400 million last year to 800 million by the end of 2026. This expansion covers Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S and A series smartphones as well as its latest foldable phones. The company estimates that integrating Gemini’s multimodal capabilities—such as real-time language translation and on-device image recognition—will boost user engagement by up to 25%, based on internal pilot testing across 12 markets.
2. Alphabet Poised for AI-Driven M&A Activity
Industry analyst Marcus Bodet forecasts that Alphabet Inc. will accelerate its acquisition strategy in the first half of 2026, targeting at least five AI startups specializing in machine learning infrastructure and large-language models. Bodet highlights that Alphabet’s strategic purchases could total over $8 billion, building on its 2023 acquisition of health-tech AI firm DeepMind and its 2024 purchase of robotics software maker Intrinsic. He notes that these deals aim to bolster Google Cloud’s AI services, which grew 45% year-over-year in Q4 2025, and reinforce Alphabet’s position against other hyperscalers in enterprise AI deployments.
