Guardian Metal Stakes 193 Claims for 550-Acre Tungsten Tailings, Drilling Set June 2026
Guardian Metal mapped 550 acres of tungsten-enriched tailings at its Tempiute project, staking 193 claims to boost its footprint by over 375%. The company plans an auger drilling program in June 2026 to characterize tailings grade and assess near-term domestic tungsten resource potential.
1. Tailings Mapping and Claim Expansion
Guardian Metal completed detailed mapping and sampling across the former Emerson Tungsten Mine, delineating roughly 550 acres of tungsten-enriched tailings. The company staked 193 new claims, expanding its Tempiute footprint by over 375% to secure the full extent of the historical tailings.
2. Planned Auger Drilling Program
An auger drilling campaign is scheduled to start in June 2026, pending regulatory permits. The program will sample subsurface material to determine tailings tonnage, grade and environmental conditions at Tempiute.
3. Strategic Domestic Tungsten Opportunity
With tungsten designated as a critical defense metal, reprocessing tailings using modern recovery techniques and existing on-site infrastructure could accelerate a near-term U.S. supply chain and deliver meaningful reclamation outcomes.
4. Next Steps and Permitting
Guardian Metal has submitted notices to the Bureau of Land Management and Nevada regulators for the auger drilling program. In parallel, an independent metallurgical study will assess optimal recovery methods and geochemistry, with results expected in the coming months.
