Harmonic Adds MCP AI Connectivity and OpenShift Deployment to Reduce Storage Costs

HLITHLIT

Harmonic enhanced its hybrid streaming solution with standardized Model Context Protocol AI connectivity, Red Hat OpenShift cloud-native deployment and intelligent asset orchestration to optimize operations and reduce storage costs. The upgrade enables AI-agent root-cause analysis, self-healing and policy-driven asset movement for broadcast and OTT providers on a unified platform.

1. AI-Agent Connectivity via MCP

Harmonic’s hybrid streaming solution now includes the Model Context Protocol connectivity platform, enabling service providers to integrate custom AI agents for root cause analysis, automated self-healing and cost optimization through centralized operational data.

2. Red Hat OpenShift Cloud-Native Deployment

The upgraded VOS Media Software runs as containerized microservices on Red Hat OpenShift, offering advanced orchestration, security and scaling capabilities, and supports both broadcast and OTT workflows on a single unified platform.

3. Intelligent Asset Orchestration Lowers Costs

Policy-driven orchestration analyzes access patterns and automates movement of VOD and PVR assets across storage tiers, simplifying management, reducing manual tasks and cutting storage costs based on demand and performance policies.
