Hawaiian Electric expects to restore nearly all Hawaii Island customers hit by Tropical Storm Lala today, excluding remote areas with severe damage.
As of 8:30 a.m., 83% of impacted Hawaii Island customers had service restored; 11,290 remained without electricity.
Mutual-aid crews from Southern California Edison were deployed to speed repairs ahead of another potential storm system.
Outages tied to Tropical Storm Lala were essentially cleared on Oahu and Maui, with only small pockets still under repair.
