Hengrui Pharma licenses GLP-1/GIP drug HRS-1596 to Novo Nordisk in deal worth up to USD 2.6 billion
NVO•Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine licensed global rights to its oral once-weekly GLP-1/GIP candidate HRS-1596 to Novo Nordisk in a deal worth up to USD 2.6 billion, including USD 300 million upfront and up to USD 2.3 billion in milestones.
1. Licensing deal terms
Novo Nordisk received exclusive rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize HRS-1596 outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Hengrui is also eligible for royalties tied to net sales in the licensed territory.
2. Expected closing
The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026, subject to U.S. antitrust clearance and other customary conditions.
