Toyota August sales, production fall for second straight month
TM•Toyota’s global vehicle sales fell 6.4% year over year to 790,743 in August, while production dropped 5.9% to 700,860. Sales declined in China, the U.S. and the Middle East, partly offset by a rise in Japan.
1. Sales and production decline
Toyota said global vehicle sales and production fell for a second straight month in August. Sales in China dropped 22.8%, the U.S. fell 4.4% and the Middle East slumped 37.5%, while sales in Japan rose 9.1%. Production fell 11.3% in China and 6.6% in the U.S.; Japan’s output declined 1.7%, partly due to suspensions after an earthquake on Kyushu.
