HHS announces two food-ingredient oversight actions
HHS announced two actions to modernize federal oversight of food ingredients.
HHS proposed a rule requiring manufacturers to notify the FDA when concluding that use of a substance added to human or animal food is generally recognized as safe.
HHS also said it submitted for final review the federal government’s first proposed definition of ultra-processed foods, according to its website.
