HII to Outline Distributed Naval Warfare Approach and REMUS UUV Launch Demo

HII will host a media briefing on April 17 to detail its support for the U.S. Navy’s Hedge Strategy through distributed integrated naval warfare, combining manned ships and autonomous systems. The company demonstrated this approach by autonomously launching and recovering a REMUS unmanned underwater vehicle from a Virginia-class submarine.

HII will host a media briefing at the Navy League Sea-Air-Space 2026 exposition on April 17 at 11 a.m. Eastern to outline its support for the U.S. Navy’s Hedge Strategy through distributed, integrated operations.

2. Distributed Integrated Operations

The briefing will cover HII’s approach to combining manned ships, autonomous unmanned systems, command and control, spectrum dominance, cyber capabilities and battle management to extend reach, enhance survivability and scale combat power.

3. REMUS UUV Launch and Recovery Demo

HII has already demonstrated its concept by autonomously launching and recovering a REMUS unmanned underwater vehicle from a Virginia-class submarine, expanding mission reach, reducing risk and enhancing stealth.
