HIVE Digital boosts December Bitcoin output 197% to 306 BTC, unveils 100MW Paraguay expansion
HIVE Digital Technologies produced 306 BTC in December 2025, up 197% from 103 BTC in December 2024 despite a 40% year-over-year increase in mining difficulty. HIVE plans to develop 100MW of hydroelectric data center capacity in Paraguay by Q3 2026, boosting its renewable energy footprint to 540MW.
1. December Bitcoin Production Surge
HIVE Digital Technologies achieved record December output with 306 Bitcoin mined, a 197% increase from 103 Bitcoin in December 2024. This performance came despite a 40% year-over-year rise in global mining difficulty. Daily production averaged 9.9 BTC, while the fleet’s hashrate averaged 23.3 EH/s, peaking at 24 EH/s. Improved fleet efficiency of 17.5 J/TH contributed to 13.2 BTC per EH/s, driving month-over-month growth of 6% and quarter-over-quarter growth of 23%.
2. Full-Year 2025 Growth Performance
For the full calendar year 2025, HIVE produced 2,311 Bitcoin, up 31% from 1,770 Bitcoin in 2024, even as annual average network difficulty rose 46%. The company maintained over 2% of global network hashrate through its geographically dispersed operations across three continents and nine time zones. Resilience to seasonal weather volatility was demonstrated by sustained uptime and consistency in Paraguay, Canada and Sweden facilities.
3. Expansion and Renewable Energy Strategy
HIVE plans to add 100 MW of hydroelectric-powered data center capacity at its Yguazú campus in Paraguay, targeting Q3 2026 commissioning. Long-lead substation components are on order and deployment will follow a disciplined return-on-invested-capital framework. Upon completion, HIVE’s total renewable energy footprint is projected at approximately 540 MW (400 MW in Paraguay, 140 MW across Canada and Sweden), supporting both Bitcoin mining and GPU-accelerated AI computing operations.
