Hologic has launched Ultimate Defense, a U.S. campaign urging women to undergo routine Pap and HPV screenings to address rising cervical cancer underscreening rates. The initiative will deploy targeted educational and outreach programs to expand screening awareness and early detection efforts nationwide.

1. Accelerating AI-Driven Imaging Adoption

Hologic is positioning its Genius AI software-defined imaging platform to capitalize on the projected $70.92 billion point-of-care diagnostics market by 2032. CEO Steve MacMillan highlighted that the upcoming CMS ACCESS Model, launching in July 2026, will incentivize outcome-based care through quality metrics and bundled payments. Hologic’s solution integrates MRI-precision algorithms into its portable devices, enabling clinics to perform advanced breast and skeletal scans at the bedside. In internal pilot studies across 15 U.S. outpatient centers, the platform reduced average scan time by 30% and cut facility overhead by 18%, while maintaining diagnostic concordance above 98% when benchmarked against hospital-based MRI.

2. Ultimate Defense Campaign to Boost Cervical Cancer Screening

In response to a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report showing a 12% decline in Pap and HPV screening rates over the past five years, Hologic launched its Ultimate Defense initiative in January 2026. The nationwide campaign will deploy 5,000 mobile screening units and partner with 200 community health centers to offer no-cost Pap + HPV co-testing. Hologic projects that reaching 500,000 additional women annually will avert roughly 1,200 cervical cancer cases and save an estimated $45 million in treatment costs over the next decade. Marketing materials emphasize routine screening every five years for women aged 30–65, supported by educational grants totaling $10 million over two years.
