Honda Targets 1.5M U.S. Sales in 2026 with Refreshed Lineups and New Models
Honda Motor plans to sell 1.5 million vehicles in the U.S. market in fiscal 2026 by rolling out refreshed Honda and Acura lineups, new model launches, and value-oriented trims. This U.S. sales strategy aims to offset projected market headwinds through expanded product options.
1. U.S. Sales Target Set at 1.5 Million Units
Honda Motor Co. has outlined a U.S. sales goal of 1.5 million units for 2026, representing a 4% increase over its projected 2025 deliveries. The target is driven by anticipated demand for its refreshed Civic and CR-V models, plus the introduction of two new SUVs under the Honda and Acura brands. To hit this milestone, Honda plans to optimize production in its Ohio and Alabama plants, adding a third shift on select lines and allocating 25,000 additional units to meet rising consumer interest in crossover and hybrid vehicles.
2. Refreshed Lineup and Value-Focused Trims
For the 2026 model year, Honda will roll out mid-cycle updates to its bestselling Civic and CR-V, including upgraded infotainment systems with 10.2-inch touchscreens, wireless smartphone integration, and improved fuel-efficiency ratings by 2 miles per gallon. The company is also expanding its value-trim strategy, introducing the ‘Sport Value Edition’ package that bundles advanced driver-assist features and a premium audio system at a sub-$30,000 price point. Honda projects these value trims will account for 35% of overall U.S. sales volume, aiming to capture price-sensitive buyers without sacrificing margin.
3. New Honda and Acura Launches to Bolster Market Share
To diversify its U.S. portfolio, Honda will debut two new models in the second half of 2026: the all-electric Acura ZDX crossover and the Honda Prologue midsize SUV. The Acura ZDX offers an estimated 300-mile electric range and fast-charging capability, targeting luxury EV buyers with a starting price below $60,000. The Prologue, based on a General Motors EV platform, is expected to draw first-time Honda SUV buyers with a roomy interior and competitive starting MSRP. Executives believe these launches will contribute up to 10% of total U.S. volume by year-end and help Honda inch closer to a 10% share of the U.S. light-vehicle market.
