He urged factory and R&D teams to embed customer feedback into product development and stressed the need for faster, more transparent decision loops. Chung emphasized strengthening the supplier ecosystem—comprising over 30,000 tier-1 components—and forging partnerships in AI and robotics to maintain quality across the production chain. He projected AI-driven features will contribute to 15% of new vehicle revenue by year-end and committed to expanding collaborations with semiconductor and software firms.
3. Hyundai Motor America Achieves Fifth Straight Year of Record Retail Sales
Hyundai Motor America closed 2025 with its fifth consecutive year of record retail sales, moving 772,712 vehicles, and posted total annual sales of 901,686 units—a third straight annual record. December 2025 retail deliveries rose 3% year-over-year to 43,812 units, while total sales in the month reached 78,930 vehicles, a 1% increase. Hybrid model sales surged 71% in December, led by the Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe HEVs. For the full year, electrified vehicles comprised 30% of retail mix, with hybrids up 36% and battery-electric models up 7%. Hyundai’s U.S. investment plan remains on track, with $26 billion committed through 2028 to expand manufacturing, R&D facilities and battery production capacity.
