IBM trades at a 23.8x price-to-earnings ratio in line with the S&P 500 but commands a premium price-to-sales ratio of 3.7 and price-to-operating-cash-flow multiple of 18.3 versus market averages of 3.2 and 15.0, reflecting investor faith in its hybrid cloud and AI pivot.
4. Robust Cash Generation and Strategic Investments
The company converted over 20.3% of revenue into operating cash flow, generating about $14 billion annually, invested $10.5 billion in acquisitions—including Confluent—and returned $1.6 billion to shareholders in dividends while maintaining debt at 27.3% of market value.
