1. Trial begins
The dose-escalation study will evaluate safety, pharmacokinetics and clinical activity in patients with a specific genetic marker. The tissue-targeted therapy is designed to protect insulin-producing beta cells by suppressing autoreactive T cells; published preclinical results showed reduced autoreactive T-cell activity in human pancreatic tissue and helped preserve beta cells and insulin secretion.
