Indiana American Water to Spend $19M on Second PFAS Facility in Terre Haute

AWKAWK

Indiana American Water plans a $19 million PFAS treatment facility in Terre Haute, its second in Indiana, funded in part by a $14 million State Revolving Fund. Construction by Reynolds Construction begins this summer, with completion expected mid-2028 and 30–65 workers on site.

1. Project Overview

Indiana American Water is constructing its second PFAS removal system in Terre Haute, Indiana, following its first Charlestown facility. The $19 million project will enhance drinking water quality by targeting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances under the company’s statewide mitigation program.

2. Funding and Timeline

Approximately $14 million of the total cost is financed through an Indiana State Revolving Fund loan. Groundbreaking is scheduled for summer 2026, with full commissioning projected by mid-2028.

3. Technology and Workforce

The facility will use proven granular activated carbon treatment technology, mirroring the Charlestown plant commissioned in November 2025. Reynolds Construction will mobilize 30 to 65 employees during peak construction to build the new treatment building adjacent to the existing plant.
