Ingredion Hits 96.3% Sustainable Sourcing, Diverts 95% of Waste in 2025
INGR•Ingredion achieved 96.3% sustainable sourcing of its tier 1 priority crops in 2025, up from 25% in 2020, and diverted 95% of operational waste from landfills. It reached zero waste at 16 facilities, expanded its upcycled ingredients portfolio to over 50 products and launched an end-to-end sustainable innovation program.
1. Sustainable Sourcing Surge
Ingredion achieved sustainable sourcing for 96.3% of its tier 1 priority crops in 2025, up from 25% in 2020. The sourcing covers corn, tapioca, potato, stevia and pulses and follows verified standards for environmental and social thresholds throughout planting, harvesting and processing.
2. Waste Reduction Progress
The company diverted 95% of total operational waste from landfills and attained zero waste to landfill status at 16 manufacturing facilities, defining zero waste as under 0.5% of solid waste. This waste diversion strengthens operational efficiency and reduces disposal costs.
3. Upcycled Ingredients Growth
Ingredion expanded its upcycled ingredients portfolio to over 50 certified products, one of the fastest-growing areas in consumer sustainability. This initiative addresses rising demand for circular economy solutions and opens new markets.
4. Sustainable Innovation Program
A new end-to-end sustainable innovation program launched in 2025 embeds measurement tools from seed science through regenerative agriculture to plant-based packaging. The program aims to integrate sustainability metrics into product development and supply chain processes.
