Intel Q1 Server Share Slides to 54.9% as AMD and ARM Gain
Intel’s server CPU market share fell 370 basis points in Q1 to 54.9%, as AMD and ARM climbed to 27.4% (+230 bps) and 17.7% (+140 bps) respectively, while total server CPU shipments grew 19% year-on-year. PC shipments dropped 13% quarter-on-quarter, six points below the five-year seasonal average.
1. Q1 Server CPU Shipment and Share Data
Data show server CPU shipments rose roughly 6% quarter-on-quarter and 19% year-on-year in Q1 2026, defying typical seasonal declines. Intel’s share slipped 370 basis points to 54.9%, while AMD and ARM increased to 27.4% (+230 bps) and 17.7% (+140 bps) respectively, and in the x86 segment Intel’s revenue share fell to 53.8% against AMD’s 46.2%.
2. Drivers of AMD and ARM Growth
Hyperscaler capital expenditure surged 81% year-on-year, and AI-driven workloads are fueling demand across architectures. ARM’s power-efficient design is gaining traction for head-node applications, while AMD leverages industry-leading core counts and multithreading capabilities to handle multiple agentic AI sub-agents on a single device.
3. Intel’s Roadmap and PC Outlook
Intel plans to launch its Coral Rapids CPU lineup to bolster server competitiveness and could benefit from medium-term PC demand driven by locally run AI workloads. However, PC shipments fell 13% quarter-on-quarter in Q1, while global unit forecasts point to an 11% decline in 2026 as memory price inflation weighs on demand.
