Inter Venezuela Selects Harmonic's XGS-PON Fiber for Nationwide 5G Backhaul Rollout

HLITHLIT

Inter Venezuela, Venezuela's largest private ISP, will deploy Harmonic's cOS virtualized core and XGS-PON fiber solutions for a nationwide 5G-ready mobile backhaul network. The project replaces dedicated cellular links with Pier OLT and Fin 10G SFP+ hardware plus management tools to cut costs and open new regional operator revenue streams.

1. Deal Scope and Objective

On May 13, Harmonic secured a contract with Inter Venezuela to power its nationwide mobile backhaul infrastructure using XGS-PON fiber technology. The deployment will connect cell sites and aggregation nodes across Venezuela, replacing traditional dedicated cellular links with demand-based fiber services.

2. Technical Portfolio

The solution leverages Harmonic's cOS virtualized core, Fin 10G SFP+ OLT modules and high-density Pier OLT shelf to deliver scalable, 10-gigabit-capable mobile backhaul. Centralized management through the cOS platform offers real-time telemetry and analytics to optimize network performance and subscriber quality of experience.

3. Strategic Impact

By offering a cost-efficient alternative to point-to-point links, the project enables Inter Venezuela to reduce operational costs, accelerate service rollout and capture new revenue streams as regional operators densify networks ahead of 5G. This partnership underscores Harmonic's expanding footprint in Latin America and demand for virtualized fiber solutions.
