InterDigital and Türk Telekom Debut 6G Collaborative Wi-Fi/Cellular Sensing with Enhanced Indoor Accuracy
InterDigital and Türk Telekom demonstrated the first collaborative cellular and Wi-Fi sensing on a preliminary 6G architecture in Ankara, achieving improved sensing accuracy, enhanced service continuity, and reduced indoor blind spots. ISAC architecture will be showcased at Mobile World Congress 2026.
1. Collaboration Overview
InterDigital partnered with Türk Telekom to execute a pioneering trial at Türk Telekom’s Innovation and Test Center in Ankara. The teams integrated cellular and Wi-Fi radio systems on a preliminary 6G platform to validate seamless sensing collaboration for the first time.
2. Technological Innovation
The joint implementation fused sensing data from both networks using Integrated Sensing and Communication concepts defined by ETSI, achieving higher detection accuracy, continuous service coverage, and reduced blind spots in indoor settings. This dual-network approach addresses coverage gaps and resource constraints inherent in single-system sensing.
3. Future Applications and Outlook
The collaborative demo will be presented at Mobile World Congress 2026, highlighting potential applications in manufacturing automation, non-wearable healthcare monitoring, and intelligent building management. Insights from this work will inform future 6G standards, operator strategies, and commercial rollout plans targeting early 2030s deployment.
