Intuitive finalized the acquisition of the da Vinci and Ion distribution business from ab medica, Abex and Excelencia Robótica, integrating these operations into its existing European commercial and marketing organization under Senior Vice President Dirk Barten.
2. Operational Expansion
The company now operates directly in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Malta, San Marino and associated territories, welcoming approximately 250 newly joined employees to enhance customer support, streamline service delivery and align sales and marketing efforts.
3. Market Footprint and Technology
As of December 31, 2025, over 470 da Vinci surgical systems are installed across Italy, Spain and Portugal, while the Ion endoluminal system has recently launched in Italy and Spain, expanding Intuitive’s procedural offerings.
