Israel Orders Chevron Restart at Leviathan; Holds 37.125% in Gulf Oil Find
Israel’s Energy Ministry lifted force majeure at Leviathan and ordered Chevron to resume production after February 28 suspensions, while Energean’s Karish rig is being prepped for restart. 1. Israeli Gas Field Restarts
The Israeli Energy Ministry lifted the force majeure at the Leviathan gas field that had been in place since February 28 and ordered Chevron to resume production. It also instructed Energean to prepare its Karish FPSO for a safe restart after assessing security conditions following a temporary ceasefire.
2. Chevron’s Gulf Stake in Bandit Discovery
Chevron holds a 37.125% interest in the newly discovered Bandit oil prospect about 125 miles south of Louisiana, co-owned with Occidental Petroleum and Woodside Energy. The consortium is evaluating subsea tie-back development options to leverage existing offshore infrastructure and expedite production timelines.
