Itron and Microsoft Unveil IEOS Copilot Connector for AI-Driven Utility Insights
Itron expanded its partnership with Microsoft by introducing the IEOS Connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling natural-language queries across meter data, outage history and transformer associations. The collaboration will integrate advanced AI for predictive maintenance and demand forecasting and distribute Itron solutions through the Microsoft Marketplace.
1. Itron Highlights Grid Edge Intelligence Scale at DTECH 2026
At DTECH 2026 in San Diego, Itron is presenting its Grid Edge Intelligence portfolio, which to date has shipped over 16 million distributed-intelligence–enabled meters and manages more than 100 million endpoints globally. In 2025 alone, the portfolio dispatched 70 GWh of flexible customer load and generation, demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver end-to-end grid solutions at scale. These standards-based, pre-integrated offerings reduce total cost of ownership for utilities by improving power quality, enabling accurate load forecasting and providing real-time visibility at the grid edge.
2. Deepening AI and Ecosystem Partnerships to Drive Utility Innovation
Itron has expanded collaborations with NVIDIA, Microsoft, AWS, Snowflake, Gordian Technologies, NET2GRID and Bidgely to embed AI and machine learning capabilities directly at the grid edge. Through these partnerships, utilities can leverage AI-powered analytics for customer load disaggregation—with EV charging detection accuracy exceeding 90%—and real-time DER insights. A strategic collaboration with Schneider Electric further enhances distributed energy resource management by optimizing solar PV, battery storage and electric-vehicle charging in three of Australia’s largest territories.
3. Formation of Resiliency Solutions Segment via Key Acquisitions
Building on its acquisitions of Urbint and Locusview, Itron has launched a Resiliency Solutions segment that integrates protection, digital construction management and grid edge intelligence. Urbint’s Protection Solutions improve worker safety and damage prevention for underground assets, while Locusview’s modules digitize field data collection, streamline GIS integration and automate billing through validated as-built records. This unified offering enables utilities to plan smarter, respond faster to natural-disaster events and operate critical infrastructure with greater reliability and safety.
