JetBlue Adds Year-Round FLL–MCO and FLL–DFW Routes, Boosting Fort Lauderdale Schedule to 113 Daily Flights
JetBlue will launch two year-round FLL–Orlando (MCO) flights beginning May 21 and daily Fort Lauderdale–Dallas Fort Worth service starting March 12, alongside two additional daily Fort Lauderdale–LaGuardia rotations. These moves raise Fort Lauderdale departures to 113 daily flights across 46 nonstop destinations and add a dedicated Mint crew base.
1. Bank of America Maintains Underperform Rating on JetBlue
In its 2026 airline sector outlook, Bank of America Securities kept JetBlue at an Underperform rating, citing the carrier’s elevated unit costs and relatively muted free cash flow profile compared with peers. While analysts expect industrywide capacity growth to remain limited next year, JetBlue’s cost per available seat mile is projected to exceed the system average by as much as 5%, driven by higher fuel hedging losses and ground handling expenses. Delta and United are slated to generate the strongest free cash flow, while JetBlue’s cash conversion is forecast to lag by roughly 20 percentage points in 2026.
2. New Fort Lauderdale Nonstop Routes to Orlando and Dallas
JetBlue will launch two year-round nonstop routes from Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport to Orlando International Airport and Dallas Fort Worth beginning May 21 and March 12, respectively. The Orlando service will operate twice daily with morning and evening departures, while the Dallas link will run daily throughout the year. These additions follow a spring break-only trial and position JetBlue to capture both leisure and business traffic between South Florida, Central Florida and the Dallas metro area.
3. Expanded Service on Fort Lauderdale–LaGuardia Corridor
To bolster its standing as the largest carrier at FLL, JetBlue is adding two daily frequencies on the Fort Lauderdale–LaGuardia route, increasing total departures to 113 daily flights across 46 nonstop destinations by December 2025. This marks the airline’s largest-ever Fort Lauderdale schedule. The carrier also introduced service to Destin/Fort Walton Beach in March 2025, bringing its total Florida network to 11 points, and is staffing a dedicated Mint® inflight crew base in Fort Lauderdale to support its premium cabin expansions.
4. Investor Implications of Network and Premium Growth
JetBlue’s aggressive Florida strategy underscores its focus on high-yield leisure markets, with introductory one-way fares starting at $49 to stimulate load factors on new routes. The airline projects that enhanced connectivity between focus cities will drive ancillary revenue growth of 7% next year, supported by expanded EvenMore® seat upgrades and TrueBlue loyalty initiatives. However, investors will monitor whether the increased departures and premium cabin investments offset the airline’s higher on-ground and inflight service costs.
