JOBYJOBY

Joby Aviation completed New York City's first point-to-point eVTOL demo flights, linking JFK Airport to three Manhattan heliports in under 10 minutes. The week-long campaign uses the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, Blade acquisition infrastructure and Delta-Uber partnerships as FAA certification nears.

1. NYC eVTOL Demonstration Flights

Joby Aviation completed the city’s inaugural point-to-point eVTOL demonstration flights, operating between JFK Airport and three Manhattan heliports (Downtown Skyport, West 30th Street and East 34th Street). Each flight took under 10 minutes, compared with typical car travel times of 60 to 120 minutes, showcasing rapid urban connectivity.

2. Federal Program and Partnerships

The week-long public campaign is part of the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as lead partner. Partnerships with Delta Air Lines and Uber aim to integrate ground-to-air travel, creating seamless airport connections for future commercial service.

3. Infrastructure and Certification Progress

Joby’s 2025 acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s passenger business provides infrastructure across Manhattan and regional airports to support eventual revenue flights. FAA certification is in its final stages, with the first conforming aircraft under Type Inspection Authorization set to undergo for-credit flight tests.
