Joby Plans Second Shift in 45,000-sq-ft Dayton Plant and Four-Plane Monthly Output
JOBY•Joby Aviation’s 45,000-sq-ft Concorde Drive plant near Dayton will add a second shift this month and expand headcount to 75–95 by year-end. Its 700,000-sq-ft Vandalia facility is being prepared to support production ramp-up to four EVTOL aircraft per month in 2027.
1. Dayton Plant Expansion
Joby Aviation’s 45,000-sq-ft Concorde Drive facility near Dayton International Airport currently employs 50 staffers and will add a second shift this month, targeting 75–95 employees by year-end.
2. Vandalia Facility Prep
The 700,000-sq-ft building off Capstone Way in Vandalia is being readied as Joby’s main Dayton-area production hub, with plans to run three shifts once fully operational.
3. Production Output Goals
Joby builds about one EVTOL aircraft monthly at its California plant and aims to ramp combined output to four aircraft per month next year through Dayton and Vandalia expansions.
4. Propeller Blade Manufacturing
Dayton workers currently craft propeller blades for Joby’s EVTOLs, each aircraft demanding 40 blades, and proprietary component production onsite is slated to begin within weeks for high-volume manufacturing.
