Joby Wins Spots in Eight Multi-State eVTOL Pilot Programs

Joby Aviation has been selected for eight multi-state eVTOL Integration Pilot Program deployments, including projects in New York, Texas, Utah, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The company has reached stage four of five in FAA type-certification and plans initial U.S. operations in 2026 as pilots begin testing.

1. Federal Advanced Air Mobility Pilot Program Inclusion

Joby Aviation was named among the winners of the U.S. Department of Transportation and FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility and eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, securing a role in eight high-visibility test projects designed to fast-track electric air taxis into real-world service.

2. Multi-State eVTOL Deployment Plans

The selected deployments span major corridors: New York/New Jersey passenger flights to and from Manhattan heliport, Texas regional links across the Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston Triangle, Utah consortium tests across four western states, North Carolina medical and regional operations evolving toward autonomy, and Pennsylvania short-haul regional routes.

3. Certification Progress and Commercial Timeline

Joby has advanced to the fourth of five FAA type-certification stages and expects FAA pilots to conduct aircraft testing during the Type Inspection Authorization phase, targeting initial U.S. commercial operations in 2026.
