Johnson Controls Debuts YORK YDAM Chiller with 3.5 MW Capacity, 20% Density Gain

JCIJCI

Johnson Controls unveiled the YORK YDAM centrifugal chiller with up to 3.5 MW cooling and 20% greater capacity density in a compact design delivering on a standard 53-foot flatbed trailer. Launching late 2026, YDAM can halve chiller counts onsite and support 45 °C warm-water cooling for AI data centers.

1. Johnson Controls Introduces YORK YDAM High-Density Chiller for Data Centers and AI Factories

Johnson Controls has launched the YORK YDAM, an air-cooled magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller designed to address cooling challenges in multistory data centers and AI factories. Delivering up to 3.5 MW of cooling capacity in a footprint that increases density by as much as 20% over competing solutions, the YDAM fits on a standard 53-foot flatbed trailer to streamline logistics and reduce transportation, rigging and lifting costs. Shipments are scheduled to begin in late 2026. Built on the award-winning YORK YVAM platform, the YDAM supports warm-water setpoints up to 45 °C for the latest GPU inference and training workloads, operates across wide temperature differentials to lower pump size and energy use, and is validated under extreme conditions at the Johnson Controls Advanced Development and Engineering Center. By enabling operators to potentially halve their chiller count on site, Johnson Controls projects that the YDAM can accelerate deployment timelines, trim both capital expenditures and operating expenses, and alleviate skilled labor constraints for high-performance computing facilities.
