Justice Department reportedly probes TV networks over Trump pool coverage
DIS•The Justice Department is investigating ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News over their pool coverage of President Donald Trump, reportedly citing six people familiar with the action.
1. Networks under investigation
The Justice Department is investigating ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News over their coverage of Trump, a report said, citing six people with knowledge of the department’s action. A department spokesperson said the investigation would determine whether the news organizations violated antitrust laws, noting that group boycotts among commercial competitors can violate the Sherman Act.
2. Pool coverage resumed
The networks briefly stopped providing pool coverage after Trump banned CNN, Politico and MS Now from the White House, then reinstated coverage. The five networks make up the primary White House television pool, sharing coverage costs, taking turns organizing coverage and distributing footage to outlets around the country.
