Kailera Secures Cash Through Mid-2028, Initiates Global Phase 3 Trials with Positive Data
KLRA•Kailera ended Q1 with cash sufficient to fund operations into mid-2028 following its IPO and reported progress across four obesity pipeline programs. It initiated its global KaiNETIC Phase 3 trials for once-weekly ribupatide injection and delivered positive topline results in Hengrui-partnered trials of oral ribupatide and GLP-1 small molecule HRS-7535.
1. Financial Position and Runway
Kailera closed the first quarter with cash from its IPO and existing reserves sufficient to fund operations into mid-2028, reinforcing its ability to support multiple clinical programs in parallel without near-term financing.
2. Global Phase 3 KaiNETIC Program
The company launched its KaiNETIC Phase 3 program, comprising three randomized, placebo-controlled trials evaluating once-weekly ribupatide injections up to 10 mg over 76 weeks in adults with obesity or overweight; topline data are anticipated in 2028.
3. Oral Ribupatide and HRS-7535 Topline Results
Partnered trials in China showed oral ribupatide achieved a mean 12.1% weight loss at Week 26 with up to 38.6% of participants losing ≥15%, while the HRS-7535 Phase 3 T2D trial reported HbA1c reductions of 1.40–1.68% versus 0.06% for placebo and favorable safety.
4. Upcoming Clinical Milestones
Kailera plans a U.S. Phase 2b high-dose ribupatide obesity trial enrolling ~250 participants through 48 weeks (data in 2027), intends global Phase 3 obesity trials for oral ribupatide in H1 2027, and will present additional data at ADA 2026.
