Kazakh oil exports via CPC hit by Karachaganak maintenance, sources say
USO•Kazakh oil exports via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium system fell to 5.2 million metric tons in September from 5.7 million in August, sources said, due to scheduled maintenance at the Karachaganak field. Overall CPC throughput declined to 6.0 million tons, or 1.59 million barrels per day.
1. September volumes decline
Kazakh oil exports via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system fell to 5.2 million metric tons in September from 5.7 million tons in August, three oil industry sources close to the matter said. Overall CPC throughput declined to 6.0 million tons, or 1.59 million barrels per day, from 6.28 million tons, or 1.6 million barrels per day, a month earlier.
2. Factors affecting supplies
CPC loadings from January 1 through September 25 were nearly 50 million tons, down 4 million tons from the same period last year. Supplies have fallen because of lower crude production after a January accident at the Tengiz field and September maintenance at Karachaganak. Loadings at the CPC marine terminal were also repeatedly suspended after drone attacks on tankers near the terminal.
