1. Drilling begins
Kinross Gold started drilling at West Point Gold’s Jefferson Canyon project in Nevada, about 7 km from Kinross’s Round Mountain mine. The work began Sept. 23, 2026, triggering a four-year option period under a 2022 exploration and option agreement.
2. Option terms
Kinross can earn up to an 80% project interest through potential option payments of up to $10 million. West Point Gold would retain a 20% interest if both options are exercised, with that interest converting to a 1% net smelter return royalty below 10% dilution. Kinross also pays $75,000 per year in lease payments and has a $600,000 exploration-spend requirement.
