Kodiak AI partners with DTL Transport for autonomous produce hauls in California
KDK•Kodiak AI and DTL Transport began a pilot on Sept. 22 to haul perishable goods between Fresno and a Los Angeles distribution center on a roughly 225-mile route, with a human safety driver aboard.
1. California pilot begins
The collaboration follows Kodiak’s heavy-duty autonomous vehicle testing permit, issued Aug. 13 under California’s new rules for autonomous truck operations. The companies are using initial runs with a human safety driver to evaluate potential effects on transit times and shipping costs. Kodiak plans to start driverless highway operations in Texas by the end of 2026.
