Kratos Secures Multi-Million Dollar Ground System Contract for OmanSat-1 Satellite
Airbus Defence and Space awarded Kratos a multi-million dollar contract to deliver a ground system for the OmanSat-1 OneSat satellite, including Ka-band TT&C antennas, command-and-control software and orchestration. The infrastructure will support dynamic payload reconfiguration, spectrum planning and real-time monitoring for Oman’s high-throughput services to East Africa and East Asia.
1. Contract Award and Scope
Kratos was selected by Airbus Defence and Space to design and implement an end-to-end ground segment supporting the OmanSat-1 OneSat software-defined satellite for Space Communication Technologies. The multi-million dollar contract tasks Kratos with delivering command-and-control infrastructure, telemetry, tracking and spectrum monitoring systems to enable full operational control.
2. Ground System Capabilities
The ground segment will feature Ka-band telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) antennas, integrated monitor and control software, command, control and flight dynamics modules, plus an orchestration platform. These elements allow real-time payload reconfiguration, automated spectrum planning and performance monitoring to maximize satellite throughput.
3. Strategic and Operational Impact
Leveraging its Oman office, Kratos will conduct site surveys, install and commission equipment, and provide training and ongoing support. The system empowers SCT to offer flexible, high-throughput services across Oman, East Africa and East Asia, bolstering Kratos’s satellite ground segment portfolio and contributing to its contract backlog.
