Kroger Launches Savings Programs to Cut GLP-1 Prescription Costs, Offers Dietitian Support
Kroger pharmacies now participate in multiple manufacturer savings programs that can lower costs for eligible GLP-1 prescriptions, complemented by virtual or in-store evaluations and dietitian referrals in select states. The program integrates personalized counseling on medication adherence and nutrition support through fresh food, OptUP® scores and protein-rich options.
1. Expansion of Pharmacy Savings Programs
Kroger has rolled out participation in several pharmaceutical manufacturer savings initiatives aimed at reducing out-of-pocket expenses for GLP-1 prescriptions. Customers can fill prescriptions from any provider and receive support navigating insurance coverage, manufacturer coupons and cash-pay options to find the best pricing based on individual needs.
2. Integrated Nutrition and Dietitian Support
The program pairs medication access with personalized counseling from registered dietitians, focusing on adherence strategies and side-effect management. Kroger promotes a holistic wellness model by offering fresh, protein- and fiber-rich foods, leveraging the OptUP® scoring tool and recommending supplements like protein powders and fiber to address nutrition gaps.
3. In-Store and Virtual Access to GLP-1 Medications
In select states, customers can complete in-store or virtual evaluations with licensed providers who can prescribe GLP-1 treatments, streamlining access within Kroger’s retail network. Virtual nutrition consultations further enable customers to plan balanced meals and track progress throughout their weight-loss journey.
