Kroger Matches Up to $50,000 in WWF Donations During Earth Month

During April, Kroger is inviting customers to round up purchases at checkout, with the Kroger Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation matching donations up to $50,000 to support World Wildlife Fund’s conservation projects. Kroger divisions nationwide are also hosting Earth Month events—planting 45 trees in Kentucky, community cleanups in Fred Meyer stores and a food rescue pilot increasing recoveries by over 500%.

1. Earth Month Round-Up Initiative

Throughout April, Kroger customers can round up their grocery purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout to benefit World Wildlife Fund’s conservation efforts. The Kroger Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation will match customer donations dollar-for-dollar up to a combined total of $50,000, directing funds to wildlife protection programs.

2. Local Division Sustainability Events

Kroger divisions are running community events including a 45-tree planting in Newport, Ky., by Cincinnati/Dayton associates, a community cleanup with music and giveaways at Fred Meyer stores, and a Mariano’s food rescue pilot that has boosted recovered food by more than 500%. Other divisions will host volunteer activities such as Earth Day programs for campers with disabilities.

3. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Impact

Since 2017, Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste mission has donated over 4 billion meals to communities and aims to eliminate waste across its operations. The Earth Month campaign reinforces Kroger’s role as an employer, retailer and food processor committed to reducing food waste and supporting sustainable food systems.

4. Partnerships and Regenerative Farming

Kroger is collaborating with World Wildlife Fund and vendors like CMI Orchards and Royal Family Farms to promote regenerative agriculture and biodiversity.
