Lakeland Subsidiary Leases First CO₂ Turnout Gear Cleaning System in Riverside

LAKELAKE

Lakeland Fire + Safety’s California PPE subsidiary has signed a long-term lease with Tersus to install a CO₂-based turnout gear cleaning and decontamination system at its Riverside, California facility, marking the first such system in the state. The waterless process can remove up to 98% of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and returns dry gear faster, complementing existing advanced wet wash solutions.

1. Lease Agreement with Tersus

California PPE Recon, a subsidiary of Lakeland Fire + Safety, has entered into a long-term lease with Tersus Solutions to bring an advanced CO₂ cleaning and decontamination machine to its Riverside, California facility. This marks the first CO₂-based turnout gear cleaning system in the state, with the unit expected to be showcased at FDIC International 2026 prior to installation.

2. Advanced CO₂ Cleaning Technology

The proprietary liquid CO₂ process decontaminates firefighter PPE without water, detergents or harsh chemicals, relying on the solvency and phase-change properties of liquid CO₂. Third-party testing indicates the system can eliminate up to 98% of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, harmful combustion byproducts, while delivering dry gear that shortens service turnaround times.

3. Market Impact and Service Enhancement

Adding a waterless CO₂ option expands California PPE’s decontamination portfolio alongside its advanced wet wash solutions, enhancing safety standards and gear readiness for fire departments in one of the nation’s largest fire markets. The new capability positions Lakeland Fire + Safety to capture additional service revenue and reinforce its leadership in PPE care and maintenance.
